The Portrait Project

The Shanghai Portrait Project is an ongoing project by Khoby van den Berg in conjunction with Smart Shanghai and Creative Hunt that aims to give independent filmmakers in Shanghai a platform to exhibit their own, purely creative works that speak of “my Shanghai”.

As a community project, our aim is to bring together artists, filmmakers and businesses alike in order to help aid the growth of the creative community here in Shanghai. As the project grows, we hope to expand to other Chinese cities, as well as internationally, opening communication for filmmakers worldwide.

If you are a filmmaker or have any film-making skills (be it shooting, writing, editing), and would like to be involved in the project or learn more about it, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Likewise, the project wouldn’t be possible without the invaluable involvement of our sponsors. We aim to provide sponsors with a direct link to the diverse creative community in China. If you are a business or individual interested in supporting the Shanghai Portrait Project or would like to learn more about the involvement of sponsors, please contact me.

After the success of our first round of Portrait Project films, production on our second round is under way. Our second round promises to be more varied than the last. Our next screening will be on the 23rd June 2011 at Lola (570 Yongjia Road, near Yueyang road. 永嘉路570号,近岳阳路) from 7pm.
